The power steering fluid level may be inspected when the engine is hot or cold.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.

  2. Object Number: 105109  Size: SH
  3. Remove the power steering fluid level indicator from the power steering fluid reservoir.

  4. Object Number: 105105  Size: SH
  5. Inspect the power steering fluid level on the power steering fluid level indicator.
  6. The power steering fluid level should be between the FULL/COLD mark and the FULL/HOT mark on the fluid level indicator according to the power steering fluid temperature. Hot power steering fluid is approximately 80°C (170°F).

    Notice: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.

    Important: If the power steering fluid is excessively low, purge the air from the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

  7. If necessary, adjust the power steering fluid to the proper level according to the power steering fluid temperature. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.
  8. Install the power steering fluid level indicator to the power steering fluid reservoir.
