Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hoses and the fittings.

  3. Object Number: 180319  Size: SH
  4. Remove the brake pipe (1) from the brake hose.

  5. Object Number: 180322  Size: SH
  6. Remove the retainers from the brake hose (4) at the brackets.
  7. Remove the hose from the brackets.
  8. Remove the hose.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Ensure that there are no kinks in the brake hose (4).

  1. Align the hose fitting with the notch in the brackets.

  2. Object Number: 180322  Size: SH
  3. Install the brake hose to the brackets.
  4. Install the brake hose retainers to the hose fittings.

  5. Object Number: 180319  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the brake pipe (1) to the brake hose.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

    Caution: Do not move the vehicle until a firm brake pedal is obtained. Air in the brake system can cause the loss of brakes with possible personal injury.

  8. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  9. Lower the vehicle.
