Disassembly Procedure

  1. Remove the wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 171484  Size: SH
  3. Remove the following components from the wheel cylinder (1).
  4. • Dust boots (4)
    • Pistons (3)
    • Piston seals (2)
    • Spring (5)
    • Bleeder valve (6)
  5. Inspect the wheel cylinder bore and the pistons. REPLACE the wheel cylinder if the wheel cylinder bore or the pistons exhibit any of the following conditions:
  6. • Scoring
    • Nicks
    • Wear
  7. Use ONLY a crocus cloth in order to remove the corrosion. REPLACE the wheel cylinder if you are unable to remove all of the corrosion.
  8. Clean all of the wheel cylinder parts in clean denatured alcohol.
  9. Dry all of the wheel cylinder parts with nonlubricated compressed air.

Assembly Procedure


    Object Number: 171484  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the NEW piston seals (2) with clean brake fluid.
  2. Install the bleeder valve (6).
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bleeder valve (6) to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  4. Install the spring (5).
  5. Install the seals (2), pistons (3) and NEW dust boots (4).
  6. Install the wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder Replacement .
