Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the brake caliper bracket with the brake caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  4. Remove the brake rotor.
  5. Remove the front wheel bearing/hub. Refer to Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the lower control arm ball stud from the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  7. Disconnect the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
  8. Make a mark on the steering knuckle in order to record the orientation the strut to the knuckle. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
  9. Remove the steering knuckle from the strut. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
  10. Remove the steering knuckle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the steering knuckle over the drive axle.
  2. Install the steering knuckle to the strut. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
  3. Install the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
  4. Install the lower control arm ball stud to the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  5. Install the front wheel bearing/hub. Refer to Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  6. Install the brake rotor.
  7. Install the brake caliper bracket with the brake caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  8. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
