DIESEL ENGINE HEAD BOLT REPLACEMENT INFORMATION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.7L V8 DIESEL ENGINE (ENGINE VIN CODE N) THE OLD STYLE DIESEL ENGINE HEAD BOLTS MAY STRETCH WITHOUT BREAKING RESULTING IN INSUFFICIENT TORQUE AT THAT BOLT. THE NEW STYLE BOLT, IDENTIFIED BY A DASH (-) ON THE BOLT HEAD IS OF SUFFICIENT HARDNESS THAT STRETCHING OF THE BOLT WILL NOT OCCUR. THE NEW STYLE BOLT DOES NOT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT WHEN A CYLINDER HEAD IS REMOVED FOR SERVICE UNLESS IT IS BROKEN.
