For 1990-2009 cars only

General Motors passenger vehicle bumpers are designed to withstand a collision into a fixed barrier at 8 km/h (5 mph). After absorbing the energy of the collision, the energy absorbers rebound to 80-90 percent of their original position. The energy absorbing capability of the front and the rear bumper systems is achieved through a honeycomb or a foam type energy absorbing structure in each bumper.

The following bumper fascias are made of urethane:

    • The front
    • The rear

Urethane withstands minor impact and returns to the original shape.

    • The bumper
    • The fascia

Be careful around the theft deterrent labels. For more information on the labels, refer to Vehicle Certification, Tire Placard, Anti-Theft, and Service Parts ID Label in General Information.
