The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
Heavy duty final drive assembly uses a pressed on bushing which can be cracked causing rotation wear on the inner face of the right axle seal. Crack can occur from handling damage in final drive assembly process or improper installation of bushing.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Replace heavy duty final drive assembly and right axle seal. The extension housing should not require replacement if there are no visible signs of damage.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
