Without Keyless Entry

The rear compartment lid release switch supplies voltage through CKT 56 when the following conditions are met:

    • The vehicle is in the PARK position.
    • The rear compartment lid release switch (trunk) is pressed.

This energizes the rear compartment lid lock release actuator solenoid. The solenoid releases the rear compartment.

When the vehicle is in a NON-PARK position, the rear compartment lid lock release actuator solenoid is inactive. The rear compartment cannot be released with the vehicle in the NON-PARK position.

With Keyless Entry

When the vehicle is in PARK, CKT 275 supplies voltage to the rear compartment lid release relay. When the REAR COMPARTMENT button on the RKE transmitter is pressed, CKT 253 supplies ground to the rear compartment lid release relay. The solenoid within the rear compartment lid release relay energizes. The rear compartment lid release relay contacts within the rear compartment lid release relay closes. The relay sends voltage through CKT 56 to the rear compartment lid lock release actuator solenoid. When the rear compartment lid lock release actuator solenoid energizes, the rear compartment releases.

When the vehicle is in a NON-PARK position, the rear compartment lid lock release actuator solenoid does not energize. The rear compartment cannot be released with the vehicle in the NON-PARK position.
