J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front carpet retainer. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  2. Pull the door weatherstrip from the pinchweld flange as required.

  3. Object Number: 491200  Size: SH
  4. Remove the screws holding the carper retaining leg of the panel.
  5. Remove the lower trim panel from the center pillar using J 38778 .

  6. Remove the seat belt from the slot in the lower trim panel.
  7. Remove the lower trim panel from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 491200  Size: SH
  1. Install the seat belt to the slot in the lower trim panel.
  2. Align the lower trim panel to the center pillar.
  3. Press firmly on the lower trim panel until fully seated.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the screws to the carpet retaining leg of the panel.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the carpet retainer screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the door weatherstrip to the pinchweld flange.
  8. Install the front carpet retainer. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement .
