J 25070 Heat Gun

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 320063  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rocker finish panel to fender screws.
  2. Remove the rocker finish panel to rear quarter screws.
  3. Use a J 25070 152 mm (6 in) from the surface to heat the molding.
  4. Hold the J 25070 approximately 152 mm (6 in) from the surface.
  5. Apply the heat for approximately 30 seconds using a circular motion.

    Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.

  7. Use a small plastic flat-bladed tool to remove the rocker finish panel from the panel surface.
  8. Remove the rocker finish panel from the support panel.
  9. Remove the rocker finish panel support nuts from the studs.
  10. Remove the rocker finish panel support from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the rocker finish panel support to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the rocker finish panel support to body nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rocker finish panel support to body nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Use Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha in order to clean the body panel.
  6. Use a heat lamp or J 25070 in order to warm the body panel to a minimum of 21°C (70°F), if necessary.

  8. Install the lower flange and tabs of the rocker finish panel into the channels of the rocker finish panel support.
  9. Remove the backing from the front and rear of the rocker finish panel.
  10. Push the molding inward to fully seat the molding into the support and ensure a maximum bond of adhesive to the body.
  11. Install the rocker finish panel to fender screws.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the rocker finish panel to fender screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  13. Install the rocker finish panel to rear quarter screws.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the rocker finish panel to rear quarter screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
