GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

The horns will operate anytime the horn switch is pressed.

The horns will also operate when the following systems are enacted:

    • The remote lock/unlock verification (BCM)
    • The warnaway alarm (Keyless Entry)

Battery voltage is applied at all times to the horn relay through the 740 circuits.

When the horn switch is closed, the chassis ground from the steering wheel travels through CKT 28 and energizes the horn relay.

CKT 1450 also provides a redundant ground to the steering wheel.

The horn relay can also be energized by the BCM grounding CKT 28 ground.

When the horn relay is energized, the switch in the horn relay closes and applies battery voltage to the horns through CKT 29. CKT 29 activates the horn, which is grounded through CKT 1350 to G101.
