Important: Perform the following steps prior to the removal of the trip calculator components:

   • Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and disconnect the negative battery cable.
   • Inspect for any stored Diagnostic Trouble codes in order to prevent a misdiagnosis.

  1. Headlamp switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN position.
  1. All of the segments of the VF display turn on for 2-3 seconds, including the boost indicator (if equipped with the L67 supercharged engine.
  2. All of the tell-tales turn on for 2-3 seconds, including the rear door ajar indicators on sedan vehicles.
    • Driver Information Display is Inoperative
    • Low Washer Solvent Indicator OFF, Fluid Level Low
    • One or More Door Ajar Indicators Inoperative
    • Rear Compartment Lid Ajar Inoperative
    • Low Trac Indicator is Inoperative
    • Trac OFF Indicator is Inoperative
    • Change Oil Soon Indicator is Inoperative
    • The mode indicators do not illuminate with the appropriate mode selections. Replace the Trip Calculator. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement .

  1. Open each of the doors.
  2. Close all of the doors.
  1. The door ajar indicator illuminates.
  2. The door ajar indicator turns OFF.
    • Driver Information Display is Inoperative
    • One or More Door Ajar Indicators ON with Doors Closed
    • One or More Door Ajar Indicators Inoperative

  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Close the rear compartment lid.
  1. The rear compartment lid ajar indicator illuminates.
  2. The rear compartment lid ajar indicator turns OFF.
    • Rear Compartment Lid Ajar Indicator ON with Trunk Closed
    • Rear Compartment Lid Ajar Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn the trac switch to the ON position.
  2. Turn the trac switch to the OFF position.
  3. Turn the trac switch to the ON position.

The trac off or the TCS indicator lamp is OFF
    • Trac off or TCS Indicator is Inoperative
    • Trac Switch is Inoperative

  1. Turn the headlight switch to the PARK position.
  2. Rotate the IP dimmer switch from the minimum brightness to the maximum brightness.
  1. The intensity of the lamps decreases when the park lamps are turned ON.
  2. The intensity can be decreased to OFF and then, increased to maximum intensity with the park lamps ON.
    • RESET, E/M and MODE Buttons do not Illuminate with Park Lamps ON.

Press the ENG/MET switch several times.

The display should alternate between English and metric values.

Test drive the vehicle.

If the vehicle is equipped with a trip calculator, use the reset button in order to observe the values of the following modes while driving:

    • AVE ECON
    • FUEL USED
    • RANGE
    • OIL LIFE
  1. The TRAC switch controls the TRAC OFF or the TCS indicator.
  2. The LOW TRAC indicator turns ON with low traction.
  3. The R/CMPT lid AJAR indicator turns ON if the R/CMPT lid is not fully closed.
  4. The door ajar indicator for the specific door turns ON if the door is not fully closed.
  5. The LOW washer fluid indicator is OFF unless the fluid level is low.
  6. The CHANGE OIL SOON indicator is OFF until the powertrain control module determines that the oil needs to be changed. Follow the operators manual in order to reset the indicator after the oil is changed.
  7. The trip calculator switch changes from the English value to the metric value.
  8. The trip calculator display changes between the following modes:
    9. • FUEL USED
    • AVE ECON
    • OIL LIFE
    • RANGE
  9. The trip calculator reset switch causes the modes to restart the calculations.
  10. The trip calculator and the supercharger BOOST gauge shows the amount of the boost that is generated by the supercharger.
    • LOW Washer Solvent Indicator ON, Fluid Level OK
    • LOW Washer Solvent Indicator OFF, Fluid Level Low
    • The reset switch is inoperative. Service the trip calculator.
    • The mode indicators do not illuminate with the appropriate mode selection. Service the trip calculator.
    • The display is blank but the mode indicators change with the mode button activation. Service the trip calculator.
    • LOW TRAC Indicator is Inoperative
    • TRAC OFF or TCS Indicator is Inoperative
    • CHANGE OIL SOON Indicator is Inoperative
    • TRAC Switch is Inoperative

  1. Note the trip calculator mode.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position
  4. Note the trip calculator mode.

The trip calculator retains the mode that existed when the ignition was turned OFF.
