Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

  3. Object Number: 12312  Size: MH
  4. Remove the EGR valve retaining nuts (4).
  5. Remove the EGR valve (1).
  6. Remove the gasket (2) from the EGR valve adapter (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new gasket (2) on the EGR adapter (3).

  2. Object Number: 12312  Size: MH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the EGR valve (1) and install the retaining nuts (4).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Connect the EGR valve electrical connector.
  6. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
