Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left instrument panel (IP) insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .

  2. Object Number: 311721  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts from the bottom of the steering column filler.
  4. Pull the steering column filler rearward and upward in order to unsnap the filler from the IP.
  5. Remove the connector from the low tire reset switch, if equipped.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the electrical connection to the low tire reset switch, if equipped.

  2. Object Number: 311721  Size: SH
  3. Align the steering column filler locating pins and the retaining clips with slots in the instrument panel.
  4. Press down on the steering column filler in order to lock in the retainers.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the steering column filler bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the left IP insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
