Are both the speedometer and HUD inoperative?

  1. Turn off the vehicle.
  2. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  3. Drive the vehicle and compare the scan tool speed display in engine data 1 to the instrument cluster speed display.

Does the scan tool display the correct speed?

Repair circuit 389 for an open, a short to ground, or a short to B+.

Does the speedometer display the correct speed?

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the HUD connector terminal A7 and the underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C2 terminal E8.
  3. Using a DMM, test for high resistance, an open, a short to ground, or a short to voltage on circuit 389.

Are there any opens, a short to ground, a short to voltage, or high resistance in circuit 389?

Repair circuit 389.

Replace the HUD. Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement .

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the IPC connector C1 terminal K and the underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C2 terminal C8.
  3. Using a DMM, test for high resistance, an open, a short to ground, or a short to voltage on circuit 389.

Are there any opens, a short to ground, a short to voltage, or high resistance in circuit 389?
