Power Steering Return Hose Replacement 3.1L

Removal Procedure
  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any draining power steering fluid.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Electrical-3.1L.
  3. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump.
  4. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering lines retaining bracket on the engine.

    5. Object Number: 454268 Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering cooler pipe.
  6. Remove the power steering return hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Position the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
  2. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering cooler pipe.

    3. Object Number: 454268 Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering lines retaining bracket on the engine.
  4. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
  5. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Electrical-3.1L.
  6. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Refilling the Power Steering System .
  7. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  8. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .
  9. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.

Power Steering Return Hose Replacement 3.8L

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-3.8L.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any draining power steering fluid.
  4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tire and Wheels.

    5. Object Number: 284303 Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering cooler pipe.

    6. Object Number: 294335 Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump.
  7. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering hose retainer.
  8. Remove the power steering return hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the power steering return hose.
  2. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering hose retainer.

    3. Object Number: 294335 Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.

    4. Object Number: 417969 Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering cooler pipe.
  5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tire and Wheels.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-3.8L.
  8. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Refilling the Power Steering System .
  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  10. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .
  11. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
