Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the spare tire cover, the jack, and the spare tire.

  3. Remove the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  4. Remove the retaining nuts from the fuel sender access panel.
  5. Remove the fuel sender access panel.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel tank pressure sensor.
  8. Remove the fuel tank pressure sensor (7) from the modular fuel sender assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the new fuel tank pressure sensor (7) to the modular fuel sender.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the fuel tank pressure sensor

  3. Object Number: 65739  Size: SH
  4. Install the fuel sender access panel.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the fuel sender access panel retaining nuts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel sender access panel nuts to 10 N·m (8 lb ft).

  8. Install the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  9. Install the spare tire , the jack, and the spare tire cover.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
