Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 74280  Size: SH
  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Remove the driver side rear wheel and housing liner.
  5. Remove the hoses from the canister. Mark the hoses in order to ensure correct installation of the new canister.
  6. Important: Inspect the canister hoses for damage and for deterioration. Refer to Emission Hose Routing Diagram for proper routing of the canister hoses. When you replace the lines, use the correct replacement part.

  7. Remove the canister-to-canister bracket retaining bolt.
  8. Remove the canister.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the canister.
  2. Tighten the canister-to-canister bracket bolt.
  3. Install the hoses to the canister. Ensure that the connections are correct.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the driver side housing liner and wheel assembly.
  6. Tighten
    Torque the wheel lug nuts to 140 N·m (104 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
