The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
A customer may comment that the ABS indicator is illuminated and DTC C1236 is stored.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If normal diagnosis does not identify the cause, prior to component replacement, verify ground G103. G103 is located in a ground splice pack on the transmission case to engine mounting bolt. Several cases have been encountered which indicate this ground splice has deteriorated, causing repeat ABS indicator lights and DTC 1236. Perform a voltage drop test and repair the ground and then perform a diagnostic system test. G103 is also the main ground for the Ignition control module.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
