Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable restraint I/P module yellow 2-way connector (2).
  4. Disconnect the inflatable restraint I/P module yellow 2-way connector (2).
  5. Disconnect the module harness from the from the fuse block bracket.
  6. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module screws (3).
  7. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 241293  Size: MH
  1. Make sure the module harness is routed correctly. Install the inflatable restraint instrument panel (I/P) module (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the screws (3) that secure the inflatable restraint I/P module.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the module harness to the fuse block bracket.
  6. Connect the inflatable restraint I/P module yellow 2-way connector (2).
  7. Install the CPA to the inflatable restraint I/P module yellow 2-way connector (2).
  8. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
