Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the air cleaner housing assembly.
- Remove the PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement .
- Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture or Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical.
- Remove the frame. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
- Remove the wheel drive shaft from the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
- Remove the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Transmission/Transaxle.
- Lower the vehicle enough to gain access to the engine support fixture.
- Lower the engine with the engine support fixture.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the transmission side cover bolts and side cover.
Installation Procedure
- Install the transmission side cover.
- Hand start the transmission side cover bolts.
- Lower the vehicle enough to gain access to the engine support fixture.
- Raise the engine with the engine support fixture.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Transmission/Transaxle.
- Install the frame. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture or Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical.
- Install the PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement .
- Install the air cleaner housing assembly.
- Fill the transmission. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities in Maintenance and Lubrication.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the side cover bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
