Tools Required

J 38400 Brake Shoe Spanner and Spring Remover

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.



3. Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
4. Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
5. Replace all necessary hardware.

1. Install the brake shoes with all the necessary NEW hardware. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
2. Adjust the drum brake system. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .



3. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
4. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
5. Lower the vehicle.
