Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Disable the window lockout feature.
  3. Verify that one or more of the passenger windows is inoperative.

Do the passenger windows operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the inoperative window operate from the driver window switch?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the power window switch to the inoperative window.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit at the switch connector and a ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 13

  1. Disconnect the window switch that from the inoperative window.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the up circuit at the switch connector and the down circuit at the switch connector.
  3. Press the appropriate window switch to the up position and to the down position on the driver window switch.

Did the test lamp illuminate when the switch was pressed to the up position or the down position?

Go to Step 6

Did the test lamp illuminate when the switch was pressed to the up position and to the down position?

  1. Reconnect the passenger window switch.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative window motor.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the up and down circuits of the inoperative window motor connector.
  4. Press the appropriate window switch to the up position and to the down position on the driver window switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate for the up condition or for the down condition?

Go to Step 8

Did the test lamp illuminate when the switch was pressed to the up position and to the down position?

Test the battery positive voltage circuit to the inoperative window switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the up and down signal circuits between the window switches for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the up and down signal circuits between the window switches for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the up and down control circuits at the inoperative window motor for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the passenger window switch in the door with the inoperative window. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to ground in one of the up or down control circuits at the inoperative window motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative window motor. Refer to Front Side Door Window Regulator Replacement or to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Replace the inoperative passenger window switch. Refer to the following:

Replace the driver window switch. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement - Left Side or Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement - Right Side .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
