Removal Procedure

  1. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 758466  Size: SH
  4. Drain the engine oil.
  5. Remove the lower AC compressor bolts.
  6. Loosen the upper AC compressor bolts.
  7. Loosen the left side frame bolts.
  8. Remove the right side frame bolts.

  10. Remove the oil pan bolts.

  12. Remove the oil pan

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 412541  Size: SH
  1. Make sure that the oil pan and mounting surface on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris.
  2. Apply a 2 mm bead of RTV GM P/N United States 12346286, GM P/N Canada 10953472 around the perimeter of the oil pan and the oil suction port opening. Do not over apply the RTV. More than a 2 mm bead is not required.

  4. Install the oil pan.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the oil pan bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Tighten the left side frame bolts. Refer to Frame Replacement .
  9. Tighten the right side frame bolts. Refer to Frame Replacement .
  10. Install the AC compressor bolts. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Remove the engine support fixture.
  13. Fill the engine oil to the proper level.
