Removal Procedure

    Caution: This vehicle has energy-absorbing foam blocks for side impact protection. To help avoid personal injury in a collision, foam blocks that are damaged, or removed during repairs must be replaced. Failure to replace foam blocks that are removed can violate federal law.

  1. Remove the front door window regulator. Refer to Front Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 736500  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolt (2) on the hold down strap.
  4. Grasp the energy absorber pad (1) with both hands and pull it away from the door. If necessary, warm the outer door panel to soften the adhesive.
  5. Use a rag and alcohol to clean the adhesive off of the door panel.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Energy absorber pads are marked "R" for right door and "L" for left door.

  1. Remove the protective tape from the adhesive strips on the back side of the front door energy absorber pad.

  2. Object Number: 736500  Size: SH
  3. Install the energy absorber pad (1) to the front door. Press firmly on the energy absorber to secure it to the front door panel.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the front door energy absorber strap bolt (2).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the energy absorber strap bolt (2) to 7 N·m (61 lb in).

  7. Install the front door window regulator. Refer to Front Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .
