Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the cross vehicle beam.

    3. Object Number: 291493 Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts from the bracket joining the cross vehicle beam to the HVAC module (3).

    4. Object Number: 482587 Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to the LH hinge pillar.

    5. Object Number: 482588 Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to the RH hinge pillar.

    6. Object Number: 291494 Size: SH
  6. Remove the defroster duct. Rfere to Defroster Air Outlet Replacement .
  7. Remove the right side window defroster duct. Rfere to Side Window Defogger Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side .
  8. Remove the left side window defroster duct. Rfere to Side Window Defogger Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side .
  9. Remove the cross vehicle beam from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 291494 Size: SH
  1. Position the cross vehicle beam (1) to the hinge pillar.

    2. Object Number: 482588 Size: SH

    Important: Do not tighten bolts until step 4.

  2. Install the cross vehicle beam to the RH hinge pillar retaining bolts; do not tighten.

    3. Object Number: 482587 Size: SH
  3. Install the cross vehicle beam to the LH hinge pillar retaining bolts.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Tighten the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to both the LH and RH hinge pillars.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar retaining bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the HVAC module to the cross vehicle beam retaining bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the HVAC module to the cross vehicle beam retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the HVAC module center support bracket.
  7. Install the HVAC module center support bracket retaining bolts.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the HVAC module center support bracket retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Install the instrument panel wiring harness into position and secure the retaining clips.
  9. Install the defroster duct. Rfere to Defroster Air Outlet Replacement .
  10. Install the right side window defroster duct. Rfere to Side Window Defogger Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side .
  11. Install the left side window defroster duct. Rfere to Side Window Defogger Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side .
  12. Install the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
