JAPAN/EXPORT ONLY - STALL/ UNSTABLE IDLE DURING COASTDOWN

SUBJECT: STALL OR UNSTABLE IDLE DURING COASTDOWN OR AT STOP FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS (REPLACE MEMCAL/EPROM)

MODELS: 1992-93 PONTIAC GRAND AM WITH 2.3L ENGINE (VIN D - RPO LD2) AND AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE **FOR JAPANESE EXPORT ONLY**

CONDITION:

SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A STALL OR UNSTABLE IDLE DURING COASTDOWN OR AT A STOP AFTER HIGHWAY DRIVING.

CAUSE:

SOFTWARE CALIBRATION.

CORRECTION:

IF NO CAUSE IS FOUND FOR THE STALLING OR UNSTABLE IDLE AFTER FOLLOWING CURRENTLY PUBLISHED DIAGNOSTICS, REPLACE THE MEMCAL/EPROM USING THE PART NUMBERS LISTED BELOW. THE SOFTWARE CALIBRATION HAS BEEN OPTIMIZED FOR CONDITIONS IN JAPAN.

SERVICE INFORMATION:

PERFORM DIAGNOSTICS AS OUTLINED IN SECTION 6E OF THE SERVICE MANUAL. MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS THAT ARE REQUIRED, OR REPLACE ANY INOPERATIVE PARTS.

IF NO CAUSE IS FOUND FOR THE STALLING OR UNSTABLE IDLE AFTER FOLLOWING CURRENTLY PUBLISHED DIAGNOSTICS, REPLACE THE MEMCAL/EPROM USING THE PART NUMBERS LISTED BELOW.

REFER TO THE APPLICABLE SERVICE MANUAL FOR THE MEMCAL/EPROM REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE.
