A/C ADAPTORS FOR HIGH FILL RATE SCHRADER-TYPE VALVES

1986 GRAND AM MODELS

All 1986 Grand Am models with air conditioning now use a high fill rate Schrader-type valve that contains a different valve. This valve requires a depressor that will depress it deeper before the valve will open. This valve can be identified by looking into the opening. The depressor for the high flow valve is about three times as long as the older valve. It also has a spring wound around it, while the older valve does not. Kent-Moore has the following adaptors for service use.

J25498-A Straight Brass Adaptor - For use with both valves J25499-A 90 Degree Brass Adaptor - For use with both valves J34122-A 6" Fexible Adaptor - For use in both valves J25498-2A Valve Depressor - Will convert older adaptors for use with both valves

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
