Secondary Driver Information Display Description and Operation

The secondary driver information display processes various input signals and displays the relative information on the secondary driver information display screen.

Vehicles equipped with UT3 Audio System

The secondary driver information display provides several on-screen menus, which may be used to select preferences or to make adjustments. Under normal operating conditions the secondary driver information display will display:

    • A digital clock displaying the time.
    • The current radio station frequency selected.
    • Whether or not a CD is inserted in the audio system.

The following audio system messages may be displayed on the secondary driver information display screen:

    • Security Lockout Active: This message is displayed when the coded security system has been activated.
    • ERR: This message is displayed when the audio system is unable to play the inserted cassette or CD.
    • LOC: This message is displayed when the audio system has entered theft mode.
    • CAL/CAL ERR: This message is displayed when the audio system has detected an invalid calibration.
    • CHECK CD: This message is displayed when the audio system encounters a tracking error.
    • NO DISC: This message is displayed when there is no CD discs inserted in the audio system.
    • NONE: This message is displayed when the audio system cannot detect the vehicle speed data from GMLAN.

Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedures when an error message is displayed.

Vehicles equipped with UWP Audio System

The secondary driver information display, displays a digital voltage gauge and a digital oil pressure gauge on the display screen.

Voltage Gauge Display

The secondary driver information display processes input signals and displays the current vehicle's electrical system voltage value in the form of a bar graph on the secondary driver information display screen. Under normal operating conditions, the voltage gauge should display between 13.8 - 15.4 volts.

Oil Pressure Gauge Display

The secondary driver information display processes input signals and displays the current vehicle's engine oil pressure value in the form of a bar graph on the secondary driver information display screen. Under normal operating conditions, the oil pressure gauge should display a minimum oil pressure of 74 kPa/10 psi at idle speed and a maximum oil pressure of 377 kPa/54 psi at 2,000 RPM.
