BO-48120 Folding Top Retaining Strap

Important:  If the folding top is not able to power, position can be achieved manually. With the aid of an assistant, open the folding top to the above position shown and carefully hold the top until the straps can be installed. Use special tool BO-48120 or equivalent to hold the folding top in place.

Ensure that the straps are removed after the repairs are completed and BEFORE cycling the folding top under power.

  1. Start cycling the folding top open, and release the switch when the top is over-center rearward and the stowage compartment closeout panels are in a vertical position.
  2. When installing the folding top retainer strap do the following:
  3. 2.1. Bring one end of the folding top retainer strap around the upper rail link (4).
    2.2. Position the folding top retainer strap (1) in the center between the rivet and pin/clip (5).
    2.3. Bring both ends of the folding top retainer strap (1) together.
    2.4. Bring the ends of the folding top retainer strap (1) to the inboard side of the side rail link (3), put both ends onto striker (2).
  4. If under power, there should be some slight slack in the straps at this time
  5. Being careful to watch that the straps are properly engaging, turn the ignition key to the off position.
  6. Upon completion of repairs, with the aid of an assistant, manually pull the front roof panel slightly forward to create enough slack in the straps to remove the straps.
  7. Holding the roof securely, remove the straps.
  8. Continue to manually pull the roof panel forward until the folding top is resting on the windshield header.
  9. Check the folding top for proper operation.
