DTC Descriptors

DTC B3680 01: Movable Roof Pump Motor Circuit short to battery

DTC B3680 02: Movable Roof Pump Motor Circuit short to ground

DTC B3680 04: Movable Roof Pump Motor Circuit open circuit

DTC B3680 0B: Movable Roof Pump Motor Circuit pump motor current above 35A

DTC B3680 0C: Movable Roof Pump Motor Circuit pump motor current below 3A

Circuit/System Description

Hydraulic pressure for the folding top system is generated by the Folding Top Pump Motor. The folding top control (FTC) module controls both voltage and ground for the Folding Top Pump Motor. The FTC Module also monitors the circuits for proper operation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The FTC module is enabled.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B3680 01

A short to voltage on the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit or the folding top pump motor direction B voltage circuit.

B3680 02

A short to ground on the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit or the folding top pump motor direction B voltage circuit.

B3680 04

An open on the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit or the folding top pump motor direction B voltage circuit.

B3680 0B

Pump motor current is above 35 amps.

B3680 0C

Pump motor current is below 3 amps.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The top is disabled.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The fault is no longer present and the top completes one cycle.

Diagnostic Aids

    • DTC B1335 03 will set in conjunction with DTC B3680 if there is a short to ground on the battery positive voltage circuit main power circuit (terminal C1, pin 28).
    • DTC B3680 04 sets when using special function

Circuit/System Testing

B3680 01

  1. Disconnect the folding top pump motor.
  2. Probe the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit with a test lamp that is connected to ground. The test lamp should not illuminate.
  3. If the test lamp illuminates, repair a short to voltage on the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit.
  4. Repair a short to voltage on the folding top pump motor direction B voltage circuit.

B3680 02

  1. Disconnect the folding top pump motor.
  2. Probe the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit with a test lamp that is connected to ground.
  3. Use a scan tool to command the pump motor direction A on. The test lamp should illuminate.
  4. If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair a short to ground on the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit.
  5. Repair a short to ground on the folding top pump motor direction B voltage circuit.

B3680 04

  1. Disconnect the folding top pump motor.
  2. Probe the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit with a test lamp that is connected to ground.
  3. Use a scan tool to command the pump motor direction A on. The test lamp should illuminate.
  4. If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair an open on the folding top pump motor direction A voltage circuit.
  5. Repair an open on the folding top pump motor direction B voltage circuit.

B3680 0B

Replace the folding top pump motor.

B3680 0C

Replace the folding top pump motor.
