Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

Notice: Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

Notice: If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the roof rail SIR system, if equipped. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  3. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  4. Remove the sunshade supports. Refer to Sunshade Retainer Bezel Replacement .
  5. Remove the garnish moldings from the upper center pillar. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  6. Remove the rear corner garnish moldings. Refer to Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  7. Remove the rear retainers from the headliner.
  8. Remove the front passenger seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  9. Move the driver seat full forward.
  10. Recline the driver seat.
  11. Remove the rear seat bolster assembly. Refer to Rear Split Folding Seat Back Bolster Replacement .
  12. Remove the rear body trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side .

  14. Remove the fastener from the body wiring junction block. Slide the junction block towards the rear of the vehicle and pull out.

  16. Remove the headliner wiring harness from the rear junction block.

  17. Object Number: 1219147  Size: SH
  18. Pass the headliner wiring harness through the access hole behind the rear seat.

  20. Partially remove the rear window shelf trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement .
  21. Remove the headliner wire harness from the rear quarter panel.
  22. Disconnect the sunroof electrical connector, if equipped.
  23. If equipped, remove the sunroof finishing lace. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .
  24. Partially remove the door opening weatherstrips. Refer to Front Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement and Rear Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement .

    Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  26. Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the rear passenger door.

Installation Procedure

  1. If installing a new headliner, transfer the dome lamp and the console to the new headliner.

  3. Install the headliner to the vehicle through the rear passenger door.
  4. Connect the sunroof electrical connector.
  5. If equipped, install the sunroof finishing lace. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 1179368  Size: SH
  7. Attach the headliner wire harness to the rear quarter panel.

  8. Object Number: 1219147  Size: SH
  9. Route the headliner wiring harness through the access hole behind the rear seat.
  10. Reinstall the rear shelf trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 1219150  Size: SH
  12. Install the headliner wiring harness to the rear body wiring junction block.
  13. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  14. Install the rear junction block to the vehicle and secure with the fastener.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  16. Install the rear body trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side .
  17. Install the rear seat bolster assembly. Refer to Rear Split Folding Seat Back Bolster Replacement .
  18. Place the driver seat in an upright position.
  19. Install the front passenger seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  20. Install the rear fasteners to the headliner.
  21. Install the garnish moldings to the upper center pillar. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  22. Install the sunshade supports. Refer to Sunshade Retainer Bezel Replacement .
  23. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  24. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  25. Install the door opening weatherstrips. Refer to Front Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement and Rear Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement .
  26. Enable the roof rail SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
