Folding Top Deck Lid Access

In the event that the rear compartment lid is inhibited from conventionally opening due to a folding top symptom, displaying a TOP NOT SECURE message or that the folding top operation can not complete the opening or closing sequence as it is inhibited by the rear compartment latch being ajar, displaying a TOP INOP-TRUNK message, follow the steps below to determine the specific Tech 2 Special Function to gain access.

Important: Allow the system a minimum of three minutes to bleed down pressure after the last cycle.

  1. Ignition On, engine OFF.
  2. Press and hold the folding top control switch. Verify the TOP INOP-TRUNK message does not appear in the driver information center (DIC).
  3. If the specified message is displayed, perform the TOP INOP-TRUNK Access procedure.
  4. Press and hold the folding top control switch. Verify the TOP NOT SECURED message does not appear in the DIC.
  5. If the specified message is displayed, perform the TOP NOT SECURED Access procedure.

TOP INOP-TRUNK Access

Caution: This function should only be performed if the "TOP NOT SECURED" Driver Information Center (DIC) message is displayed, the rear compartment lid is latched in the front and rear, and the "TRUNK AJAR" DIC message is displayed. Executing this function with the folding top in any other position can result in personal injury or vehicle damage.

This function allows the folding top control (FTC) module to ignore the trunk ajar signal allowing the use of the folding top control switch to complete the folding top sequence allowing the vehicle to secure the rear compartment lid.

  1. Select the Ignore Trunk Status special function in the Folding Top module.
  2. Caution: When the folding top is opening or closing, people can be injured by the parts that move: the hardtop and its mechanism, the rear compartment, and the side windows. Keep people away from these parts when you are lowering or raising the top to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage.

  3. Press the Ignore soft key. This function may be controlled by a timer, and may need to be executed a few times.
  4. Press and hold the folding top control switch to complete the closing of the rear compartment lid. Continue until the DIC displays TOP MOVE CMPLT.

TOP NOT SECURED Access

Caution: This function should only be performed if the "TOP NOT SECURED" Driver Information Center message is displayed and the rear compartment lid is closed. Executing this function with the folding top in any other position can result in personal injury or vehicle damage.

This function will allow the rear compartment lid to open conventionally through the body control module (BCM) as the BCM will ignore the TOP NOT SECURE message from the FTC module to allow a command to release the rear compartment lid for access.

  1. Select the Trunk Release Solenoid special function in the BCM.
  2. Press the soft key to release the trunk.
