Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Eye Protection Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic Pressure Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Servicing Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

    Notice: Refer to Cylinder Hoses Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the rear compartment side trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the rear compartment sill trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement .
  3. Remove the center hydraulic cylinder pin and clip.

  4. Remove the lock clips (1) and pins (2) from each side of the module.

    5. Object Number: 1658980 Size: SH
  5. Open the folding top module.

    6. Pull upward and push forward to open.

  6. Remove the retractable hydraulic compartment lid cylinder (2) from the module (1).
  7. Using a suitable tool, remove the ball socket ends from the assembly:
    8. 7.1. Release the hydraulic pump pressure. Refer to Folding Top Pump Bypass Valve Pressure Release Adjustment .
    7.2. Use a small flat-bladed tool to lift the retainer spring flex clip.
    7.3. Do not reuse spring flex clip. Replace spring flex clip after disassembly.
    7.4. Before disconnecting the cylinder hoses, have the replacement cylinder ready.
    7.5. Once the cylinder hose or the port plug has been removed, DO NOT move the cylinder rod. This will cause fluid to squirt out of the ports.
  8. Remove the hydraulic compartment lid cylinder from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the hydraulic compartment lid cylinders to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the hydraulic lines to the retractable hydraulic compartment lid cylinders:
    3. 2.1. Install new O-rings to the cylinder hoses.
    2.2. Install the hoses into the cylinder ports. Press down on the hoses until the hoses are fully seated into the cylinder.
    2.3. Install new cylinder hose flex clips.
    2.4. Inspect the flex clips to ensure that the clips are fully seated around the hoses.

  3. Install the retractable hydraulic compartment lid cylinder (2) to the module (1).
  4. Install the ball socket ends to the assembly.

    5. Object Number: 1658980 Size: SH
  5. Pull upward and then pull rearward to lock in place.
  6. Install the center hydraulic cylinder pin and clip.

    7. Object Number: 1658906 Size: SH
  7. Install the lock pins (2) and the clips (1) to each side of the module.
  8. Tighten the hydraulic pump bypass valve. Refer to Folding Top Pump Bypass Valve Pressure Release Adjustment .
  9. Inspect the fluid level and add fluid as needed. Refer to Folding Top Fluid Addition .
  10. Inspect the folding top for proper operation.
  11. Install the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement .
  12. Install the rear compartment side trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement .
