For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Adjust the compartment lid cross-car by loosening the hinge to rear window lower panel nuts. Position the deck lid as needed. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Replacement Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .
  2. Adjust the front of the deck lid fore and aft by loosening the deck lid to hinge arm bolts. Position as needed.
  3. Adjust the rear of the compartment lid by adjusting the lock striker up and down.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge to quarter panel nuts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Tighten the rear compartment deck lid to hinge arm bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Tighten the latch striker bolts when the adjustments are complete.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
