Removal Procedure

  1. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove and support the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .
  4. Remove the left transaxle mount lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side .
  5. Remove the rear transaxle mount bracket lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Bracket Replacement .
  6. Remove the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  7. Remove the power steering lines from the right side of the frame.
  8. Support the rear of the frame with a jackstand.
  9. Loosen the front frame bolts and remove the rear frame bolts. Refer to Frame Replacement .
  10. Adjust the jackstand to lower the rear of the frame.
  11. Position a drain pan under the forward servo cover.

  13. Remove the servo cover bolts.
  14. Remove the forward servo cover.
  15. Remove the forward servo cover O-ring.
  16. Remove the servo piston assembly.
  17. Remove the servo spring.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 164777  Size: SH
  1. Install the servo spring.
  2. Install the piston assembly.
  3. Install the O-ring.
  4. Install the servo cover.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the forward servo cover bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  8. Remove the drain pan from under the forward servo cover.
  9. Adjust the jackstand to raise the rear of the frame.
  10. Install the frame bolts. Refer to Frame Replacement .
  11. Remove the support from the rear of the frame.
  12. Install the power steering lines to the right side of the frame.
  13. Install the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  14. Install the rear transaxle mount bracket lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Bracket Replacement .
  15. Install the transaxle mount lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side .
  16. Important: It is recommended that the transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset. Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the engine control module (ECM), powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) will need to relearn the TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions .

  17. Install the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Remove the engine support fixture.
  20. Check and fill the transaxle as necessary.
