DTC B3685 58: Movable Roof Header Latched Left Sensor Circuit incorrect reaction after event

DTC B3685 59: Movable Roof Header Latched Left Sensor Circuit circuit/component protection time out

Circuit/System Description

S18 is part of the Folding Top Front Location Pin Guide - Left assembly. The folding top control (FTC) module uses S18 to determine if the headliner is latched at the left front of the header. S18 is closed and pulls the signal circuit low when the top is latched.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The FTC module is being commanded.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

An open or a short to ground are present on the signal circuit of S18.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The top is disabled.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The fault is no longer present and the top completes one cycle.

Diagnostic Aids

    • DTC B1010 08 will set along with DTC B3685.
    • A weak battery may cause DTC B3685 59 to set.
    • A short to B+ may damage S18.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Disconnect S18.
  2. Use a scan tool to monitor Folding Top Header Latched.
  3. The scan tool should indicate No.
  4. If scan tool does not indicate No, test the signal circuit of S18 for a short to ground.
    If circuit OK, replace FTC Module.
  5. Connect a fused jumper wire between the signal circuit and ground.
  6. The scan tool should indicate Yes.
  7. If the scan tool does not indicate Yes, test the signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
    If circuit OK, replace FTC Module.
  8. Probe the ground circuit of S18 with a test lamp connected to B+. The test lamp should illuminate.
  9. If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit.
  10. If circuits test OK, replace S18.
