The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

There has been a condition identified where the convertible top could become inoperative. The most common symptom is the convertible top will start to operate and come just off the header then stop. The rear decklid will also unlatch in the front and start to lift then stop. This condition will likely set a code B367A and or B367B.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If you have the above condition, please follow these steps below:

  1. First thing is to get a snap shot when concern is present
  2. Check the RCL release switch (s3/s4 switch) data
  3. • Look for a loose nut that could have become jammed into the deck lid claws. If so the nut most likely came from the rear spoiler attachment nuts.
    • If nothing is jammed into the claws then continue on with the following steps.
  4. RCL release switch data may show that switch is stuck in transition too long (usually 6-8 seconds).
  5. Note: The motor will time out if takes too long.

  6. Check the wiring and connector from the RCL release switch to the Folding Top Controller (FTC) for damage when 4-bar claws are moving.
  7. If no wiring concern found, then remove the trunk trim and observe the operation of claws from inside trunk.
  8. Check to see if claws are binding/grinding when contacting striker rollers. (large silver rollers in the compartment lid)
  9. If binding occurs, then you may need to loosen and adjust the entire 4-bar upwards 2-3 mm to correct issue.

Important: For additional information on this issue please reference IDL Course Numbers 12442.10V and 10206.13D

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
