Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Replace the passenger presence system as a complete assembly to prevent possible injury to the occupant. All the components in the service kit are assembled and calibrated as a unit. Using only some of the components in the service kit will cause the passenger presence system to operate improperly.

  1. If replacing the front passenger seat cushion, you must also replace the inflatable restraint passenger presence system. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System Replacement - Front .
  2. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  3. Remove the seat belt buckle from the seat. Refer to Front Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .

  5. Remove the rear retainers on the seat cushion cover from the seat frame.

  6. Object Number: 1284499  Size: SH
  7. Remove the J-strips from the seat frame.
  8. Remove the J-strip on the recliner rod.
  9. If the vehicle is equipped with a heated seat, disconnect the heated seat wiring connector.
  10. Remove the seat cushion cover and pad from the seat frame.
  11. Remove the hog rings from the under side of the seat cushion.

  13. Pull the cushion cover (1) off of the pad (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 280470  Size: SH
  1. Push the cushion cover (1) over the cushion pad (2).
  2. Important: Verify that the listing wire is aligned with the trim cover.

  3. Install the hog rings on the under side of the seat cushion.
  4. Install the seat cushion cover and pad onto the seat frame.
  5. If the vehicle is equipped with a heated seat, connect the heated seat wiring connector.

  7. Install the J-strips to the seat frame. Start at the front end and work toward the rear.
  8. Install the J-strip to the recliner rod.

  10. Install the rear retainers for the seat cushion cover onto the seat frame.
  11. Install the seat belt buckle to the seat. Refer to Front Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .
  12. Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  13. Caution: To avoid personal injuries, re-zero the passenger presence system whenever you remove or replace the seat cushion or trim. Failure to do so may cause the system to malfunction.

  14. Re-zero the inflatable restraint passenger presence system whenever the seat cushion or any component of the passenger presence system is removed. Refer to Passenger Presence System Programming and Setup .
