Circuit/System Description
S1 is the Folding Top Header Latch Cylinder Sensor. The Folding Top Control (FTC) Module uses S1 to determine if the Folding Top Header Latch Cylinder is in the latched or unlatched position. S1 is a hall effect sensor that becomes active when the cylinder is in the unlatched position.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The Folding Top Control (FTC) module is active.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
A short to ground, short to voltage, or open is detected on the signal circuit of S1.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The top is disabled.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
The fault is no longer present and the top completes one cycle.
Diagnostic Aids
A weak battery may cause DTC B1296 58 or DTC B1296 59 to set.

Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect S1.
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the 12-volt reference circuit terminal 2 and ground. The test lamp should illuminate.
- Connect a fuse jumper wire between the 12-volt reference circuit terminal 2 and the signal circuit terminal 1.
- Use a scan tool to monitor Folding Top Header Latch Cyl. The scan tool should indicate Latched.
- If circuits test OK, replace S1.
