Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1734064  Size: SH
  1. Remove the fastener (1) from the lower lock pillar garnish molding. Sedan shown, coupe similar. Fold the garnish trim away from the latch.

  2. Object Number: 876786  Size: SH
  3. Remove the latch bolts.

  4. Object Number: 876787  Size: SH
  5. Disengage the clip holding the latch release handle to the rear compartment shelf.
  6. Remove the rosebud fastener which retains the latch cable to the rear compartment shelf.

  7. Object Number: 888319  Size: SH
  8. Remove the grommet from the sheet metal.
  9. Pull the latch assembly into the passenger compartment.
  10. Remove the latch assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 876786  Size: SH
  1. Install the latch assembly.
  2. Feed the cable and the release handle through the sheet metal to the rear compartment.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the rear seat back latch bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  6. Install the grommet.

  7. Object Number: 876787  Size: SH
  8. Install the rosebud fastener to the latch assembly cable.
  9. Install the release handle and engage the handle in the clip.

  10. Object Number: 1734064  Size: SH
  11. Install the lower lock pillar garnish molding fastener (1).
