Do the reading lamps operate properly with the lamp switches?

Is only one reading lamp inoperative?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

  1. Inspect the power supply, ground circuit, and switch for a poor connection or an open in the inoperative lamp circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing .
  2. Repair the poor connection or open in the inoperative lamp circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs .
  3. If no fault is found, replace the inoperative lamp.

  1. Disconnect the reading lamp switch connector.
  2. Test for a high resistance or an open in the ground circuit at the reading lamp switch connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Is ground present?

Go to Step 6

Test for a high resistance or an open in the inadvertent power control circuit between the reading lamp assembly and the body control module (BCM). Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Was a condition found and corrected?

Go to Step 11

Test for a high resistance or an open in the interior control circuit between the reading lamp assembly and the BCM. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Repair the open in the ground circuit for the reading lamp switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Replace the reading lamp assembly.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.
