Removal Procedure

  1. Place the steering wheel in the straight forward position.
  2. Remove the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement.
  3. Remove the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 854962  Size: SH
  5. Remove the steering column upper support bracket bolts.
  6. Support the lower portion of the steering column as necessary.

  7. Object Number: 854910  Size: SH
  8. Remove the steering column jacket bolts and remove the steering column jacket from the steering column.

Installation Procedure

    Important: The steering column shaft splines must be free of dirt and debris.

  1. Clean the steering column shaft splines.
  2. Apply 2 grams (0.07 oz) of the supplied grease to the steering column shaft splines.
  3. Position the new steering column jacket on the steering column.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the steering column bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  7. Install the steering column upper support bracket bolts.
  8. Tighten

    1. Tighten the right side steering column upper support bracket bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the left side steering column upper support bracket bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  9. Install the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement.
  10. Install the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement.
