Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch OFF.

Do the windshield wipers remain in the PARK position?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Disconnect the harness connector of the windshield wiper/washer switch.

Do the windshield wipers stop?

Go to Step 11

Connect a test lamp from the signal circuit of the windshield wiper/washer switch at the body control module (BCM) to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Connect a test lamp from the supply voltage circuit of the wiper 2 relay coil to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 14

Connect a test lamp from the control circuit of the windshield washer pump to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Disconnect the wiper 1 relay.

Do the windshield wipers stop?

Connect a test lamp from the supply voltage circuit of the wiper 1 relay coil from the BCM to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the signal circuit of the windshield wiper switch for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Test the supply voltage circuit of the wiper 1 relay for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Replace the wiper 1 relay.
