Did you perform the Charging System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Disconnect the generator connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from the generator connector terminal 2 to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the charge indicator light?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

Remove the generator, and replace the IC regulator. Refer to Generator Replacement and Generator Overhaul .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

  1. Inspect the charge indicator bulb, and replace the bulb as necessary.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the instrument cluster connector 1 terminal 1 and ground.

Does the charge indicator light?

Go to Step 5

Repair the open in the WHT/RED wire between the instrument cluster connector 1 terminal 1 and the generator. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

Test for an open in the BLK/WHT wire between the instrument cluster connector 1 terminal 2 and the junction block including S241 and S242.

Was an open found?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 7

Inspect the instrument cluster printed circuit for cracks and for bad connections. Repair or replace the instrument cluster printed circuit as necessary.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check
