Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 13908 Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

    2. Important: Mark the alignment of the flywheel and the torque converter in order to retain a proper balance.

  2. Remove the torque converter cover. Refer to Torque Converter Cover Replacement .
  3. Remove the flywheel to torque converter bolts.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 13908 Size: SH

    Important: All flywheel to torque converter bolts should be hand started before tightening in order to ensure proper alignment, and in order to avoid cross-threading.

  1. Install the flywheel to torque converter bolts. Hand start the bolts.

    2. Tighten

        • Tighten the torque converter bolts for the 3.8L to 63 N·m (46 lb ft).
        • Tighten the torque converter bolts for the 5.7L to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
  2. Install the torque converter cover. Refer to Torque Converter Cover Replacement or Coolant Heater Cord Replacement .
  3. Lower the vehicle.
