Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check?

Start the vehicle.

Does the engine oil temperature gauge read at an acceptable level?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the engine oil pressure sensor.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Does the engine oil pressure gauge read high pressure?

Go to Step 4

Replace the engine oil pressure sensor. Refer to Engine Oil Pressure Sensor or Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 7

Test for and repair a short to ground in circuit 31. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and repair a short to ground?

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
