  1. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
  2. Turn on the radio.
  3. Turn on the park lamps.

Replace the steering wheel controls. Refer to Steering Wheel Control Switch Assembly Replacement .

  1. Disconnect connector C217.
  2. Turn the IP dimmer switch to maximum brightness.
  3. Connect a test lamp from connector C217 terminal B to terminal D (male side). Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Reconnect connector C217.
  2. Backprobe the steering wheel controls connector from terminal B to terminal C. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Connect a test lamp between C217 terminal B and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Test for and repair a poor connection at the steering wheel controls. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
