  1. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the headlamps on.

Do all of the tail lamps illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the inoperative lamp.
  2. Leave the headlamps on.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the left rear tail lamp and the ground circuit of the left rear tail lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Replace the left rear tail lamp. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the left rear tail lamp and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Repair a poor connection or an open in the ground circuit of the left rear tail lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Repair a poor connection or an open in the supply voltage circuit of the left rear tail lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
