  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Ensure that the turn signal switch is OFF.

Do the turn signal lamps remain off?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Leave the ignition switch at the OFF position.
  2. Place the turn signal and hazard switches to the OFF position.
  3. Disconnect the turn/hazard switch assembly connector C216.

Are the turn signal lamps still on?

Repair a short to battery voltage in the supply voltage circuit of the turn signal lamps. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the turn/hazard switch assembly. Refer to Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
